Mr. Thomas J. Weingart, 56, of Fowler Drive, St. Johnsville, NY, passed away on January 4, 2024, at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York, NY.
Tom was born on October 20, 1967, in Torrington, Connecticut. He was the son of Charles Lawrence and Mary Hassig Weingart, who both predeceased him.
In 1984, in Tom's senior year of high school, his family relocated their dairy farm to the town of Minden. In 1985, Tom graduated from Fort Plain High School. Following graduation, he went to SUNY Cobleskill to obtain his BA in Agriculture Economics, where he later returned as an adjunct professor.
After graduation, he began his career at NBT (formally known as Central National Bank), where he was a dedicated employee for 33 years. Tom was well-known and respected in the agricultural lending department of the bank and the farming community.
His life had always been about family, the church, community, and farming. Tom was an amazing husband, an extremely proud father, a dedicated family member, a loyal friend, and a helpful neighbor. Everyone who met Tom was drawn to his love, friendship, and humor. Tom was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Fort Plain, where he was on the church finance committee. Tom was active in the community and involved with the advisory board for SUNY Cobleskill, he was a past member of the St. Johnsville Library Board and current member of The Fort Rensselaer Club. Tom was an avid Buffalo Bills and Boston Red Sox fan.
On July 10, 1999, he married his loving wife Laurie Goddard at the former St. James Catholic Church.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael Weingart. Tom is survived by his wife Laurie; daughter Sydney; son Thomas; brother Charles "Chuck"; sister Julie; brother Eddie (Beth); sister-in-laws Linda (Scott) Blomquist; Donna (David) DeLuca; Julie (John) Washburn; mother-in-law Barbara Krutz; as well as many other family members including his Aunt Louise; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A mass of Christian burial mass will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2024, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 PM, at the Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
