Mr. Robert M. Saltsman, 71, of Kahn Road, passed away on April 20th, 2023 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home.

He was born in Amsterdam, NY, the son of Clyde and Catherine Becker Saltsman, both who predeceased him. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1971.

As a young man he worked on several area farms, and most recently had worked as a road worker for the Town of Palatine, for 19 years.

A lifelong area resident, he was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, the Canajoharie-Nelliston Elks # 2621, as well as being part of the Adirondack 4 - wheelers, his 66 Chevy Nova 2 SS for the 20 plus years he owned it, but loved mowing his lawn.

On October 19, 1974 at the Salem United Methodist Church he married Virginia Hoffman.

He was predeceased in death by his sister Nancy Klock.

Survivors include his son; Nicholas and Ken French; daughter Catherine Saltsman; brother Alton Saltsman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday April 25th, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00, at the Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317, with a funeral following immediately after at 4:00PM

Burial will take place privately.
