Mr. Robert Francis Smith, 84, of State Highway 5s, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, October 24, 2021 at St. Johnsville Rehab & Nursing Center.

Born on August 24, 1937 in Malone, NY, he was the son of John Earl Smith and Mae McCune Smith. He was a graduate of Malone High School, Plattsburgh State University, and Missouri Auction School. He had been a resident of the Fort Plain area for more than 60 years.

Mr. Smith was a teacher for 30 years and an auctioneer until 2013, operating Smith Auction Service with his wife, Nancy.

Mr. Smith was a member of Everlasting Joy Believers Fellowship, where he served as an Elder.

On July 14, 1984 in Margaretville, NY, Robert was married to Nancy Rosa.

Robert was an EMT for the former Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance, teaching first aid. He was a member of the NYS Auctioneer's Association, member of AA for 18 years. He served on the Church board and was a Born Again Christian. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in St. Augustine, Florida every winter for over 10 years.

His parents and sister, Barbara Smith predeceased him.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Nancy Smith of Fort Plain, NY; step-son, John Woolheater; cousin, Janet Smith; and many friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Everlasting Joy Believers Fellowship, 14 Park Place, St. Johnsville, NY 13452. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 12:00-2:00PM at the Church. Burial will take place in Margaretville Cemetery at a later date.
