Obituary

Mrs. Regina A. Lehtonen, 100, of Robin Circle, Johnstown, New York died Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Hackettstown Medical Center in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Born on September 17, 1920 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of Alexander Kangas and Alina Sixtus Kangas.  She was a graduate of James Monroe High School, Class of 1938 and attended Ganes Private College in New York City.  Mrs. Lehtonen grew up in Pelham Bay, NY, later moving to Canajoharie, where she spent 31 years of her life before moving to Johnstown and then to New Jersey. Mrs. Lehtonen was a legal secretary for the former Central National Bank in Canajoharie.  She was also the Personal Assistant to vice admiral Leroy at  Fort Schuyler, NY. She was a member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie. Mrs. Lehtonen loved golf and enjoyed swimming until she was 80, swimming more than 100 miles. In 1947 Regina married Victor Lehtonen.  He preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Lehtonen is survived by her son, Jon A. Lehtonen of Hackettstown, NJ; daughters, Diera Nolly of Memphis, TN, Victoria Hines of Caroga Lake, NY; as well as 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Regina A.
