Mr. Raymond G. Schwartz, 84, of Hancock Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away, following a brief illness, Saturday, June 30, 2018, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 4, 1934 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of Raymond Schwartz and Mary Long Schwartz.  He attended Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Schwartz was a maintenance mechanic for White Mop Wringer Corp. in Fultonville for over 30 years.  Prior to working for White Mop Wringer, Ray worked on the family farm with his father.  Following his retirement he had a Small Engine Repair Service, which he absolutely loved.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.

Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union.  He enjoyed hunting, camping, and boating.  He loved spending time at his camp on Woods Lake in Bleecker.

On August 31, 1952 at the former St. James Roman Catholic Church, Ray was married to Charlotte Wick.

His son, Jeffrey Schwartz and daughter; Sherry Schwartz-Lapi predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Wick Schwartz of Fort Plain, NY; daughters; Robin Capece, Jean Davis and her husband, Robert; sons, Donald Schwartz, Gary Schwartz, Christopher Schwartz and his wife, Diana, all of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, James Lapi and his wife, Brenda, Donald Schwartz, Jr.and his wife, Chasity, Jackie Capece, Erica Schwartz-Swift and her husband, Zachary, Charlotte Davis, Jenny Davis, Robert Davis, Jr. and his wife, Candace, Angelina Schwartz-Puerto and her husband, Albin; great-grandchildren, Sherry, Brandon, Breanna, Gregory, Johnnie, Hailey, Ava, Robert, Giovanni, Cianna, Sabrina, Lauren, Colleen, and Roman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 1:00PM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 12:00-1:00PM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.  Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
