Mrs. Priscilla M. Smith, 87, formerly of Ames, New York died on December 19, 2022, at Palatine Nursing Home.

Born on February 2, 1935, in Oneonta, NY, she was the daughter of Kenneth MacEwen and Mabel Bucklin McEwen. She had been a resident of Ames from 1969 until moving to the Nursing Home in 2020. She received her BS in Teaching from the State Teacher's College in Oneonta.

Mrs. Smith started her teaching career in Cherry Valley in 1959, right after she finished College. She enjoyed teaching Kindergarten for Cherry Valley School, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the Ames United Methodist Church.

Priscilla was a member of the Ames Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for over 30 years. She enjoyed genealogy research. She loved to knit Christmas stockings and tree skirts for her friends and Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter.

In 1969 in Oneonta, NY, Priscilla was married to Noel Smith. He preceded her in death in March 2014.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her sister, Donna Vroman of Michigan; niece, Christine Clay; nephews, Bret Herron, and Matthew Vroman.

A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Ames Cemetery.
