Mrs. Paula Hill, 80, of Ames, NY, passed away at home under the care of Mountain Valley Hospice on Monday, December 29th, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Mrs. Hill was born in Schenectady, NY, on October 28, 1945, the daughter of Harold and Hanna MaConaghy Barber, both of whom predeceased her.
She was educated in Schoharie Schools.
While being a mother, she also handled the bookwork for her husband's business, Brad's Automatic Transmission, the family farm, PBR Farm, which is owned by Brad, Paula, and Ron and Lisa Hill, and ran a daycare out of her home for many years.
She was also a Sunday school leader and superintendent and taught vacation bible school at the United Methodist Church in Ames, NY., enjoyed playing piano, knitting, baking, entertaining family and friends, and going to camp at the Great Sacandaga Lake. Still, most of all, she looked forward to spending time with her family.
On April 28th, 1962, at her parents' home in Gallupville, NY, she married Bradford Hill.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, 8 months, Bradford Hill, sons Jim and his wife Sandy Hill, Ron and his wife Lisa Hill, daughter Linda and her husband Matt Wilday; her 2nd family "Andy" and John Lamphere, sisters Betty Leno, Helen Schneider, Haroldine Barber; 6 grandchildren Jon, Cecilia, Kylie, Hanna, Austin, and Allyson; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, January 2, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
An 11:00 AM funeral will take place on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Friday, May 29th, at 10:30 am at Ames Cemetery.
