Obituary

Mrs. Mary C. Anthony, 94, of Palatine Bridge, New York, passed away, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on May 14, 1924 in Middleborough, MA, she was the daughter of John Donato and Rose Doucette Donato. She was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Anthony was a mother and homemaker, in addition to working for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain. Mrs. Anthony was a member of the American Legion Post #554 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader. She enjoyed playing cards and going on trips with the Senior Citizen's, until she was well into her 80's. On January 29, 1949 at the former St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church in Canajoharie, Mary was married to Richard C. Anthony. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1979. Her grandson, John Geweye, and her brothers and sister also predeceased her. Mrs. Anthony is survived by her daughters, Sandra Anthony and Dennis Conrad of Palatine Bridge, NY, Gail Castellano of Deland, FL; grandsons, Carlo "Chuck" Castellano, Jr. and Heather, Richard Castellano and Shannon; 4 great-granddaughters, Braelyn, Gwendolyn, Shea, Ava; 1 great-grandson, Anthony; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Father Tim Lyons officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Burial will take place at St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Canajoharie, NY.
