Obituary

Mr. LeRoy "Kip" Nellis, 81, of St. Johnsville, NY, passed away on April 27, 2024, at the Wilkenson Center in Amsterdam, NY. He was born in Little Falls, NY, on October 22, 1942, the son of Harold and Eleanor Suits Nellis.


He attended St. Johnsville Schools. The majority of his life was spent in the local area.


Mr. Nellis dedicated his entire life to the Adirondack Knitting Co., a testament to his unwavering commitment. He even relocated to Lincolnton, NC, for about 20 years with the company before returning to the local area upon retirement.


Kippy served in the US Airforce from 1964-1968.


He enjoyed NASCAR, carpentry, and furniture making in his spare time.


For over 50 years, he has been married to Helen Ingalls Nellis.


He was predeceased in death by his son, Michael Nellis.


Mr. Nellis leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Helen Nellis; son Corey and his wife, Kathy Nellis; daughter Tamarah and her husband, Bob DeFrancis; siblings Peggy, Marta, and Curt; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.


The family invites family and friends to the Village of St. Johnsville Cemetery on Friday, May 3rd, at 11:00 AM for a graveside service with military honors by the US Air Force.


The family is under the care of the Fort Plain Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
