Sanders, Sr.

Lee W. Sanders, Sr., 88, of School Street, Nelliston, NY died under the care of hospice at his home with his family by his side.
Lee was born in New York, on May 26, 1935, the son of Issac Sanders and Ida Moore Sanders.
He attended Canajoharie High School, then at age 55 went and obtained his GED.
He lived his entire life in the local area, and was self-employed his entire life as a well respected carpenter.
He served in the US Army, with the rank of Sgt, 1st class, in the Truck division.
Lee was a member of both the Grandview Baptist Church and the Amazing Grace Baptist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby after he retired, although you could say he never fully retired, asking his daughter to make him a table to have his woodworking tools at while he was unable to be up and moving around.
He was predeceased by both his wives, his first wife, Jean Nash Sanders, who he married on December 22, 1956, who passed away on June 16, 2013, and his second wife, Kathy Frasier, who he married on January 6, 2016, and passed away on Jan 16, 2022. He also was predeceased by his baby boy.
Survivors include his six daughters; Sandra and Ron Frasier, Susan VanArsdal, Sylvia and BJ VanBuren, Sheila and LaVerne Borst, Diane Hodge and Joanne and Ted Grant; two sons, Lee W. Sanders, Jr., and Edmund and Dawn Sanders; 23 grandchildren, 19 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday December 5th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Plain Cemetery. A procession will leave the family's home at 10:45 and make its way to the cemetery. A Celebration of Lee's life will be held also at the Grandview Baptist Church, on Saturday December 9th, 2023 at 10:30 AM.
