Mr. Kenneth King, Sr., 86, of Lafayette Street, Palatine Bridge, New York passed away, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Palatine Nursing Home.

Born on November 9, 1931 on Bleeker Street in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of Virgil King and Myrtle Smith King.  He was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. King was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War, where he was a POW.

He had worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie as a warehouse worker for 25 years.  Prior to working for Beech-Nut, Kenneth had worked for Snyder Bicycle Factory, in Little Falls, for 20 years.

Mr. King was a member of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275.  He was a former Little League Coach for Fort Plain for many years.  He enjoyed working on David Whitehouse's Family Farm.

His wife, Marion M. King preceded him in death on March 15, 2000. His sisters, Betty Yager-Manchester, Audrey Lamphere, Sandra Przestrzelski; and brother, Gene King also predeceased him.

Mr. King is survived by his daughter, Terry and her husband, Gary Jones of Nelliston, NY; son, Kenneth S. King, Jr. and his wife, Liz of Surprise, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Andrew and Natasha King, Stephanie King, Anthony King; 4 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Arianna, Alyvia, Alijah King; siblings, Linda and Skip Hoffman, Ann Hollar, Sharon and Charles Maheson, Virgil and Mary King, Leona and Keith Elsworth, George King, John and Louise King, Robin and Stephen Koenig, Kathy and Ronald Johnson, Mark and Cynthia King; niece, Angel.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 4:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with Rev. Mark Kelly officiating, and with military honors provided by the active duty Army and Fort Plain VFW Memorial Squad.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00pm at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
