Mrs. Jeanine Marie Winkler, 66, of Phillips Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, following a brief illness. Born on January 15, 1955 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Stanley Smith and Harriett Malley Smith. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and she attended Utica College. She had been a resident of Canajoharie since 1989, previously residing in Gloversville. Mrs. Winkler was the Secretary for the Special Education Department at Canajoharie Central School for 29 years, until her retirement in 2017. She was a member of the Reformed Church of Canajoharie. Jeanine loved to help others by donating to local food pantries. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling. She loved to watch Soap Operas and enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis, however she was also fond of Elton John, Oldies, and Country. On July 25th 1980 in Lake George, NY, Jeanine was married to Karl Otto Winkler. Together they celebrated 41 years of marriage. Her parents predeceased her. Jeanine is survived by her husband, Karl Winkler of Canajoharie, NY; daughter, Katti H. Winkler of Canajoharie, NY; step-sons, Randall Winkler, Paul Winkler; sister, Susan Niles; brother, James and Nancy Smith. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00AM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY.
