Mrs. Jean K. Cole, 73, of Moyer Street, Canajoharie, New York died Saturday, June 19, 2021 at her home. Born on August 8, 1947 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Raymond S. Suits and Anna Saltsman. She was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School, Class of 1965 and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Cole was a Bank Teller for NBT Bank in Canajoharie for many years. She had also worked for Conroy Gloves as a secretary, Rite Aid, and Canajoharie School for a short time. She was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church. She was a member of DAR (Daughter's of the American Revolution) and CAR (Children of the American Revolution), which she held numerous offices. She was the State President for CAR. On May 12, 1973 in Fonda, NY, Jean was married to Albert Cole. Together they celebrated 40 years of marriage until his death on June 4, 2013. Her son, Michael Cole predeceased her. Jean is survived by her step-son, Jeffrey David Cole and Lyndal; son, Anthony Cole and Julie Ruszkowski; daughter-in-law, Nancy Cole; grandchildren, David Jeffrey Cole, Shayla Marie Cole, Lucas Edward Cole, Garrett Johnson, Mackenzie Ruszkowski; brothers, James Suits, Robert and Linda Suits, Peter and Cheryl Suits; sisters, Deborah La Port, Bea Rouse; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10:00AM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 30th from 4:00-7:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
