On March 29, 2024, Janet Louise Rocas passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
She was born in Dover Delaware on February 12, 1941, to her biological parents, Lloyd Henry Adams and Marjorie Ann Kinny, but raised by her adoptive parents, (Wild) Bill Melhorn and her mother, Virginia Melhorn.
On February 15, 1969, she married John A. Rocas, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by all her siblings and grandchildren also include, Jonathan Rocas, and Christopher Gillingham.
With her beloved husband, John A. Rocas, who predeceased her, Janet lovingly raised five children: John M. Rocas, Cynthia Clements, Robert Rocas, William Rocas (Michelle), and Jeffrey Rocas (Stacy). Her heart was filled with joy by her grandchildren, William Rocas, Kim Rother, Jessica Montanye, Ginger Gillingham, Justin Gillingham, Charlie Gillingham, Victoria Rocas, Christopher Rocas, Michael Rocas, Alyssa Rocas, Zachary Rocas, and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Her belief in religion was always dear to her.
Janet's dedication to her work in the restaurant business as a chef and professional cake baker was unmatched. Her artistic talents extended to various fields, and she found great joy in entertaining her family and friends. Her love for gardening, animals, and nature was a testament to her gentle spirit. Above all, she treasured the moments shared with her husband.
The family will be having a private graveside service later this year at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
Cremation and interment arrangements are under the direction of Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY, 13317.
