Mr. James E. Herrick, Jr., 83, of State Highway 162, Sprakers, NY, died on December 27, 2022 at Albany Medical Center. .
He was born on October 7, 1939, in Amsterdam, NY, the son of James E. Herrick, Sr and Carol Ayers Herrick, both predeceased him.
He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1957.
Mr. Herrick started driving trucks for Boss-Linco and retired from Preston Trucking. After he retired, he started driving for WW Custom Clad, in Canajoharie, NY for 10 more years.
He lived his entire life in the local area, and had been a Town councilman for the town of Root for 28 years. He was also an active member of the Currytown Reformed Church, where he served as an elder. He had served at the Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Dept for 65 years, while doing so holding various positions within the department. Many people will remember him for being involved in many local area activities.
On April 22, 1961, at the former St. Joseph's Church in Green Island, NY he married Emily O'Brien.
He was predeceased in death by a son, Tommy Herrick, and a sister Rebecca Price.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years; Emily Herrick; sons, Jamie Herrick, III and his wife Candy-Jo, Danny Herrick and his wife Michelle; daughter Jennifer Kelly and her husband Matt; a daughter in law Chris Higgins; Twin sister, Janice Faulkner and sister Rosalind Carron; Grandchildren, Cameron, Madison, Meghan, Teagan, and Ean; step grandchildren Leeann and Richelle; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Family will receive family and friends from 12:00-2:00 on January 7th, 2023, at the Currytown Reformed Church, 829 Ny 162, Sprakers, Ny 12166. A funeral service will follow at 2:00PM.
