Obituary

Genevieve Burdziakowski, lovingly known as Jenny, passed away at home on September 16, 2026, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on November 11, 1945, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Bombol Budzik, who predeceased her, and she will be remembered with deep love by all who knew her.

Before becoming a mother, Jenny worked at Beech-Nut. She later devoted herself to her family and to the quiet, meaningful pursuits that brought beauty and comfort to everyday life. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, found pleasure in sewing, and was known as an excellent cook. These gifts reflected her care for others and the warmth she brought into her home.

At the heart of Jenny’s life was her family. Her beloved husband, Zigmund Burdziakowski, survives her. She also leaves behind her children: daughter Gina Burdziakowski and Andy; daughter Rose Orcutt and Tom; son Joe Burdziakowski; son David Burdziakowski and Jennifer; son Michael Burdziakowski; and daughter Susan Burdziakowski and Nick. She is also survived by her sister Helen Budzik; her sister Mary Schuyler and Kevin; her brother Joe Budzik and Laura; grandchildren: Kendal Marie Robbins, Ariana Riley Robbins, Genevieve Marie Orcutt, David Christian Orcutt, Brenna Rose Burdziakowski, and James David Burdziakowski; and great-granddaughter Violet Marie Hodge. In each of these relationships, Jenny’s love and steady presence formed a lasting bond that will continue to be cherished.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Hyney, and by her son, Daniel Burdziakowski. Their memory remained part of her life, and of the family story she held so dearly.

Jenny will be remembered for the grace of ordinary kindnesses, for the beauty she cultivated in her garden and home, and for the meals, handiwork, and love she shared so generously. Her life was rooted in family, care, and devotion, and her memory will remain a blessing to those who loved her.

Her husband, Rev. Zigmund Burdziakowski, will be conducting a funeral service at 12:00 noon on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the chapel of Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home.
