Mrs. Florence R. Liebing, 88, formerly of State Highway 80, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at St. Johnsville Rehab & Nursing Center. Born on February 5, 1928, she was the daughter of Harry Kane and Jennie Stevens Kane. She grew up in Flat Creek, NY, later residing in Fort Plain. Mrs. Liebing worked at Beech-Nut in the shipping and accounting department for over 37 years. She was a volunteer for Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service for many years. Florence enjoyed crocheting and flower gardens. On November 30, 1946 in Salt Springville, NY, Florence was married to Robert W. Liebing, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1997 after 51 years of marriage. Mrs. Liebing is survived by her sons, Robert W. Liebing, Jr. of Canajoharie, NY, Timothy R. Liebing and Denise Calef of Fort Plain, NY; daughter, Linda Edick and Bob of Maryland; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty of Ballston Spa; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 12:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 10:00am-12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
