Diane C. Ferguson, of Charleston, NY, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 11, 1945, in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of John and Dorothy (Putman) Zemken.
In 1963, she graduated from Canajoharie High School. Following this, she attended the Utica School of Commerce.
In 1983, she became the Town of Charleston's Town Clerk and Tax Collector, she wore this title proudly until her recent resignation due to health reasons. She also worked at Arkell Hall for over 25 years. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caretaker for family and friends.
She lived her entire life in the local area, where she was a member of the Reformed Church of Currytown and the Treasurer of the Charleston Christian Church Cemetery Association.
On July 31, 1970, she married Bruce Ferguson; the couple celebrated 53 years of marriage together until his passing on August 17, 2023. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and countless rides, often in the Ford Model A.
She was also predeceased by her parents, John and Dorothy Zemken; Brother Ray J. Zemken; and dear friend, whom she was guardian to, Francis "Frannie" Sviderskis.
Survivors include her children Mary L. McLasky (Dale) of Mayfield, NY, Michelle A. Ferguson of Richmondville, NY, Robert D. Ferguson and his wife Kayla of Fonda, NY, and Amy L. Munson and her husband Rob of Charleston, NY; sister Susan Montanye; grandchildren, Sarah L. McLasky (Chris), Brandon J. Ahrens (Holly), Mackenize L. Flynn (Doug), Ethan R. Desrochers, Emelia M. Desrochers, Charlie E. Ferguson, Grant D. Ferguson; great grandchildren Reese, Finnley and Daniel; A special niece Nicole Dettenrieder; as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by many lifelong friends who became family to her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, from 10:00-12:00 PM, with a funeral following at noon, at the Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 .
