Mrs. Clara King, 102, formerly of State Highway 80, Fort Plain, New York passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at St. Johnsville Rehab and Nursing Center.

Born on December 7, 1917 in the Town of Palatine, NY, she was the daughter of Lloyd Saltsman and Irene Walrath Saltsman. She attended St. Johnsville Country Schools and later graduated from Fort Plain High School. She was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. King was a Machine Operator for Beech-Nut from 1942 until her retirement.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia.

Mrs. King was a member of the Home Bureau of Stone Arabia, and was a Ladies Aide for the Church.

On October 9, 1976 in Canajoharie, NY, Clara was married to Robert C. King. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1994. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Floyd Conrad whom she married in September 1936, who predeceased her in November 1972; son, Garwain Conrad in 1998; sisters, Evelyn Heansal, Lola E. Keller; great-granddaughter, Alex Carter.

Mrs. King is survived by her daughter, Carole C. Carter of Fort Plain, NY; son, Lawrence Conrad of Johnstown, NY; sister, Geraldine Case; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 3:00PM at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 1 from 1:00-3:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring.
