Mr. Charles Mykel, 94, of VanDyke Road, Fort Plain, NY died on June 10, 2023, in Cooperstown, NY, with his family by his side.
He was born in Palatine New York, on February 20, 1929, the son of Stephen Mykel and Claribell E. Earing Mykel, both predeceased him in death.
He was the owner and operator of Mykel's Auto Parts from 1960 until his death.
For the past 63 years he had lived in Fort Plain, NY and before that was a resident of Marshville, NY.
In his spare time he enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, and being at their camp in Hammond, NY, as well as being at the hunting camp in East Blenheim.
On October 18, 1955 in Fort Plain, NY he married Helen Ruth Stevens, who survives.
He was predeceased in death by his Daughter Charlotte Warren, Grandson Stephen Boyer, granddaughter Tammy Murphy, son in law Dion Battisti and son in law John Murphy, Sr.
Survivors besides his wife include daughters Carolyn DeGroat of Albany, NY, Terri and Wayne Douglas of Fort Plain, NY, Carrie Battisti of Albany, NY and Teena Murphy of Fort Plain, NY; sons; Charles and Roxanne Mykel of Stratford, NY, John Mykel and Peg Tyler, of Fort Plain, NY and Jack Mykel of Fort Plain, NY; 31 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
At Charles request there will be no visitation, of funeral at the funeral home.
Entombment will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery under the direction of Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
