Obituary

Ms. Catherine E. "Cathy" DeForest, 65, of Conway Road, Canajoharie, New York passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, following a long illness. Born on October 2, 1954 in Little Falls, New York, she was the daughter of Cecil DeForest and Elizabeth Jean Becker DeForest Traudt. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and was a lifetime area resident. Cathy worked for LaSalle Labs in Canajoharie. She was a teller for the former Central National Bank in Canajoharie and she worked for WhiteMop in Fonda for many years. She enjoyed making crafts, especially jewelry. Her mother and father predeceased her. Cathy is survived by her companion of over 30 years, Brian Roller, Sr. of Canajoharie, NY; Daughter, Sasha DeForest of Albany, NY; granddaughters, Madison and Morgan Prime; father, Frederick "Fritz" Traudt of Canajoharie, NY; sisters, Cynthia DeForest of MI, Patricia Traudt of Rexford, NY; brothers, Michael Traudt of CT, Mark Traudt of New Jersey; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 2:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Ms. Catherine E. DeForest may be made to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, Inc.,133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
