Mrs. Brenda J. Van Alstine, 57, of Front Street, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam, following a three and a half year battle with cancer. She was born on December 2, 1964 in Altus, Oklahoma. She had been a resident of the Canajoharie area for the past 30 years, previously residing in Kissimmee, Florida. Most recently Brenda was the Bartender at the Canajoharie Eagles. She had also been the bartender for the Canajoharie Moose, and Jim's Irish Harbor. Brenda was a member of the Canajoharie BPOE Eagles #3846. She loved riding motorcycles and ATVs. She enjoyed socializing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. On November 27, 2004 in Canajoharie, NY, Brenda was married to Mark G. Van Alstine. Her parents and brother, Mark Rollins predeceased her. Brenda is survived by her husband, Mark G. Van Alstine; daughter, Jessica Saltsman and Joshua; son, Joseph Jacques; stepsons, Christopher Van Alstine, Raymond Van Alstine; stepdaughter, Tara and Brandon Esslinger; brothers, Robert and Kathy Rollins, Craig and Diane Rollins; sister, Linda and Ken Overbay; 2 grandchildren, Zoey and David; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:00AM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
