Mrs. Bettye Jean Putnam, 73, of Wagners Hollow Road, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Zephyrhills Hospital in Florida. Born on April 21, 1943 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of Ansel Brooks and Anna Ruff Brooks. She attended Canajoharie and Fort Plain Schools. Bettye spent most of her life in the local area. In recent years, Bettye and her husband, Bob had been spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Mrs. Putnam worked with her husband at the Bob Putnam Insurance Agency in Canajoharie. Bettye also worked at various places during her husband's naval career. Mrs. Putnam was a Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout den leader. On May 2, 1959 in Nelliston, NY, Bettye was married to Robert W. Putnam. She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Putnam on June 6, 2002 and sisters, Marie Haig and Arlene Brooks. Mrs. Putnam is survived by her husband, Robert W. Putnam of Fort Plain, NY; 2 sons, Robert J. and Michele Putnam, Sr. of Worchester, NY, Paul B. Putnam of Canajoharie, NY; 2 daughters, Robin Lee and husband, Gordon Clark of Fort Plain, NY, Rebecca Hagadorn of St. Johnsville, NY; 11 grandchildren, Darcie A. Johnson, Kristen Lee, Robert Putnam, Jr., Megan Putnam, Ashley Putnam, Kiara Putnam, Stacey Hagadorn, Jennifer Hagadorn, Sarah Beth Hagadorn, Jessica Hagadorn, Patience Putnam; 12 great-grandchildren, Dillon and Katelynn Krugar, Brandon, Ashlynn, Jaden Johnson, Jordan, Jocelyn Simzer, Tyler Mussmacher, Bailey Fink, Hayden Buck, Lucas Buck, and Audrey Krug. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Bettye J.
