Obituary

Mr. Arthur D. Wall, Sr., 88, of Lafayette Street, Palatine Bridge, New York, died on October 16, 2026, at Westchester Medical Center following a brief illness.

Art was born on June 19, 1938, in Canajoharie, NY, the son of Arthur H. Wall and Elizabeth Ada (Allen) Wall, both of whom predeceased him.

In 1957, he graduated from Canajoharie High School.

On October 19, 1958, he married Elsie Schrader at the Canajoharie Methodist Church.

He started his career at Beech-Nut for 11 years. He then went on to a career as a lineman. After 36 years as a lineman, he retired from Frontier in Gloversville, but he always spoke fondly of his time with GTE when he started his career there.

He was a lifelong area resident, was a member of the Canajoharie United Methodist Church, and a volunteer Palatine Bridge Police Force Officer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and all-around family man who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and being outdoors.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Ralph Wall, sister Peggy Schrell, and daughter-in-law Cindy Wall.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elsie; children Tammy Kennah (Jeff Forbes), Dale Wall (Janet), Arthur Wall, Jr. (Susan). Jody Wall (Paula), and Maria Shultis (Michael Platt); sister Joanne Hotaling; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00-1:00 on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at the Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM, with burial taking place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY.
